A talented mum from Frodsham has launched a children’s clothing line.
Kathryn Shingler, of Top Road, set up Little Cotton Frocks in August and her pretty, nostalgic designs are now available to buy at Dandelion Gifts on Church Street.
The 48-year-old, who is a mum to two sets of twins, studied fashion design at the University of Manchester and has worked in fashion retail and manufacturing.
After receiving compliments about a dress she had made for her daughter on a family holiday to Abersoch, Kathryn decided to make a business out of her eye for design.
Kathryn specialises in pinafore dresses featuring retro prints which evoke Enid Blyton imagery for little girls up to five-years-old.
She said: “The unique selling point of my dresses is that I use fabrics of a nostalgic nature and only make one or two out of each fabric.
“The designs are very simple pinafore styles that can be worn over long sleeved tops in winter, and as sleeveless dresses in summer.”
Kathryn has high hopes for Little Cotton Frocks, which recently has its first photo shoot with local photographer Paul Kyte at JTO Vintage and The Old Bank Tea Rooms in Helsby.
She added: “It is still very early days but I hope to carry on supplying Dandelion Gifts and to get my website up and running in time for spring.
“I also may be doing a very simple range of bridesmaid dresses, mainly aimed at people marrying abroad, or those looking for a simpler, vintage-themed wedding.”
Kathryn will be selling Little Cotton Frocks wares at the Vintage and Handmade Fair at Frodsham Community Centre on Saturday, November 29.
