A TRIO of female friends joined more than 1,700 women to run 5K at Delamere Forest in aid of Cancer Research’s life-saving work.
Solicitor Natasha Jones, from Cheshire Employment Law in Lymm, Justice of the Peace Nesta Hawker of Helsby, and Sara Evans, a Community Psychiatric Nurse from Mold raised £400 between them to help more people beat cancer.
They took part in Race for Life 2010 and the cool summer weather did little to dampen their spirits at Delamere’s emotionally-charged race.
Natasha, a mum-of-two, said: “It was amazing to be part of this group of 1,700 determined women and girls of all ages who transformed the Northwich forest into a sea of pink as a moving tribute to family and friends that have been affected by cancer.
“Some people ran with T-shirts displaying names and photographs of loved ones who have lost their lives to the disease or beaten it, and there was also an array of fancy dress to boost much-needed funds.
“We managed to complete the run in around 30 minutes – so we were really pleased with our time.
“Over £100,000 has been raised in total by the women that took part and this money will be used to help scientist come up with new treatments and cures in the fight against cancer. It was a pleasure to show our support for the charity.”
