BONHAMS Scotland is coming to Chester on Monday, May 10 and will be offering free valuations at Bonhams in Christleton Road, Chester.
Appointments can be made by calling 01244 353 121. Valuers will also make home visits by appointment.
The firm is looking for art and objects with a Scottish theme to offer at its annual Scottish Sale from August 17–20 in Edinburgh.
Bonhams is the only international fine art auction house with a saleroom in Scotland and its August Scottish Sale is now firmly established as the place to sell paintings and other objects linked to Scotland.
In 2003, for example, a painting by James Stuart Park found in Liverpool was sold at the Scottish sale for £23,000.
Also, because of its international reach – there are sale rooms in London, Hong Kong, New York, San Francisco, Dubai, Sydney and Tokyo – Bonhams can offer the opportunity to sell objects in one of its other venues round the world if that would be increase the chance of higher prices.
Managing director of Bonhams Scotland, Miranda Grant, said, “There are families of Scottish descent all over the world but particularly, of course, in England. This is a great opportunity for anyone to come and find out how much their heirlooms might be worth.
“The annual Scottish sale is unique. It has a well deserved reputation with buyers as the place to find high quality and interesting objects with a Scottish connection so we can offer keen bidding to anyone who wants to sell.”
