TARPORLEY Parish Council has elected a former head- teacher to join the council.
Jeremy Mills, of Nantwich Road, Tarporley, has taken up the vacancy created when Cllr Tom Spark resigned.
Cllr Mills has taught for more than 35 years in the UK and in the USA and has been head of a special school for students with behaviourial difficulties.
He moved to Tarporley in December 2006 with his wife to move closer to his son and his family.
At present he is the head of a pupil referral unit catering for students who have been excluded from school.
Cllr Mills said in a letter to the council: “At the end of August I shall retire from my present post and although I intend to continue to be involved in education I have other interests that I wish to pursue. I do feel that as I will have more free time I would like to become more involved in the local community.”
Tarporley parish clerk John MacDonald has announced there is another vacancy on the parish council due to the resignation of Cllr Dawn Joyce.
