MILLIONAIRE footballer and Lord of the Manor of Frodsham Djibril Cissé was arrested outside a lap-dancing bar in Newcastle after allegedly grabbing a woman by the throat.
The 27-year-old striker, on loan at Sunderland, was thought to have got into a heated row at about 3am with the woman, who has not been named.
Cissé, who earns £60,000 a week, is thought to have visited the North East club, which specialises in fully nude, topless dancing and private performances in booths, leaving at about 3am on Tuesday morning.
Police questioned the striker before he was released on bail while they investigate further. A Northumbria police spokesman said: “A 27-year-old man was arrested for an assault. He was questioned before being bailed pending further inquiries.”
The former Liverpool player’s wife, Jude, opened her own spa called Rouge et Noir on Chester Road, Helsby, in November.
It is thought Cissé is fighting for his future at Sunderland after the Frenchman, whose body is covered with more than 40 tattoos with some dedicated to his wife and three children, has yet to convince club bosses he is worth the fee.
