Children and staff from The Firs School helped celebrate a landmark birthday for one of its directors.

As well as being a director, Ruth Longman is the daughter of Florence Longman, who established the school in 1945.

Pupils surprised Mrs Longman with some beautiful happy birthday singing and a representative from each class then presented her with a birthday card that their class had made together.

Headteacher at The Firs School, Lucy Davies, said: “Our excellent school chef Mr Lawson made an enormous cake, which to the delight of all the children and staff formed their mid-morning snack. It was a fabulous way to celebrate this wonderful milestone for Mrs Longman.”
