The work was put forward at 5 Green Lane, Marlston-cum-Lache, by Mr M Williams.
The two-storey detached property is in the city's green belt, according to a report.
A change of use to a veterinary practice had approval in 1999.
The practice told planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council the work would infill a covered area at the side of the premises.
The application was recommended for approval as it would be appropriate in the green belt and would be in keeping with the character of the area.
