The mother of the little boy who fell out of a window at his home in Ellesmere Port has spoken of her enormous gratitude to the medical staff who saved her son’s life following the ‘freak’ accident on Tuesday morning (July 5).

Five-year-old Louis Evans had to be airlifted to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and underwent a CT scan to determine the extent of his injuries.

But thankfully the brave youngster escaped with a few broken bones, cuts and bruises.

“He is a very lucky boy,” Rhianna Evans, Louis’ mum, said.

Recalling the heart-rending moment she heard a bang and received no answer when she called Louis’ name, Rhianna said she was hysterical when she saw her little boy lying on the ground after falling from the second floor window of her bedroom while she was downstairs using the bathroom.

“It all happened in seconds, it was just a terrible, freak accident,” she said.

The Our Lady Star of the Sea pupil - who was not at school that day because of the teachers' strike - later told Rhianna he had gone to the window – which was the only one unlocked in the house – and opened it to see if he could spot his friend playing in the garden next door.

He sustained a broken nose, broken foot and a small fracture to his skull – which doctors say will heal on its own – and is now recovering at home.

Rhianna said: “His bravery and strength has been incredible. He is back to his quirky and funny little self and I am so proud of him.

“I could not fault Alder Hey or the paramedics or air ambulance staff, they were all fantastic.

“They saved my little boy’s life and I owe them that.”

Rhianna has also praised the ‘overwhelming’ support her family has received on Facebook group Pride in the Port and from strangers.

Since the accident, she has been in touch with Plus Dane Housing regarding concerns she has relating to the safety of the windows and says they have visited her home to take remedial action.
