A family owned firm in Ellesmere Port set about fundraising to aid youngsters in Sierra Leone leaving a Neston resident with the prospect of a sparkling new £10,000 kitchen.

Williams Inspirations Ltd based in the Canal Bridge Enterprise Centre on Meadow Lane plans, designs and installs kitchens and bedrooms.

It has been supporting the OAKS charity (Overseas Aid for the Kids of Sierra Leone) which is based in Chester but works in Sierra Leone.

The firm decided to hold a kitchen raffle in aid of OAKS with all the ticket money being given to the charity.

Midfielder Medo Kamara of Bolton Wanderers FC, who was born in the country, was asked to pick the winner out of the drum at the club’s training ground with the lucky ticket for the £10,000 kitchen drawn for Mr A Smith from Neston.

On hand were Margaret Jarret, founder of OAKS, who is from Sierra Leone and Carrie Williams, director of Williams Inspirations.

Poverty stricken country

Medo knows how poverty stricken the country is. It has suffered a terrible civil war and has recently been fighting Ebola.

He said: “God bless you Margaret for coming to England but not forgetting about the people back home.”

Carrie explained: “We wanted to back a local charity with an international reach.

“The OAKS school which OAKS has built allows the underprivileged to get an education. We love the work that OAKS has done in Sierra Leone so far and will continue to support them.

“We would also like to thank local Ellesmere Port businesses that have helped sell raffle tickets - Steve’s Barbers, Double Beauty, Holly Rose Florist, Leigh’s Stationery and Mersey Print. We can’t wait to install Mr Smith’s new kitchen. Great prize for a great cause.”
