A 12-year-old boy was hit and robbed of his phone as he walked along Wolverham Road in Ellesmere Port on Thursday evening (April 28).

The youngster was approached from behind by a man riding a blue and white mountain bike at around 7.15pm.

The offender hit the boy, causing him to fall to the ground and stole his mobile phone before fleeing the scene on the bicycle.

The victim sustained minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

Ongoing investigation

Now officers from Ellesmere Port CID are appealing for information.

Investigating Officer DC Nadine Sturgess said: “The victim in this case has been left extremely shocked as a result of this incident and keen to bring the offender to justice.

“The investigation in relation to the incident is ongoing and we are currently following a number of lines of enquiry.

“As part of the investigation I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and believes they may have any information that could assist our enquiries.”

Arrest

A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery in relation to the incident.
