A LORRY driver had a lucky escape when his wagon tipped on to its side.
The man was working in the yard of MCA Commercials in Oil Sites Road, Ellesmere Port, at 9.27am on Friday. He was checked out by paramedics but wasn't injured.
Leading Firefighter Ian Pugh said: 'The articulated truck had gone to tip off a load of old tyres but was sited on uneven ground and tipped up.
'There was a small diesel leak from the petrol tank which we contained.' nA small fire involving battery acid was contained at Air Products in Stanney Mill Lane at 6.37pm on Wednesday.
A crew spokesman said: 'The fire was in a substation powered by batteries. One of the
battery cells was defective, which caused a small fire. The 110-volt battery was leaking lead acid, but it was only a small seepage.
'We used dry powder to extinguish the fire. It was contained in the immediate area. No-one was hurt.
'ScottishPower were called to check it out.' nOfficers received a hoax call at 9.16pm on Wednesday, saying the bus shelter in Hawthorn Road, Little Sutton, was on fire.
Leading Firefighter Andy Scott said: 'There was no sign of burning, so our control reconnected the call. It was made maliciously.' nArsonists torched a recycling bin by the Gunners pub in Thornton Road at 9.59pm and pallets in Rossfield Road at 1.20am on Thursday.
