A DRIVER was left with minor injuries after being robbed of his mobile phone while he sat in his car.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident, which happened at about 4.45pm on Sunday February 26 on Trafford Street, Chester.

The victim was sitting in his car outside a motorbike shop making a phone call when offenders approached the car and attempted to steal the phone through the window.

A struggle ensued, causing the window to smash, and the thieves then made off with the phone, leaving the victim with minor cuts from the smashed window.

The offender is described as a white man, approximately 5' 9" tall, of chunky build and 40 years old. He was wearing a khaki or beige waist length coat.

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the incident or anyone who may have information about it to contact DS Simon Owen at Chester CID on 101 quoting incident number 680 26 February 2012.
