THREE talkative youngsters from Cuddington Primary School have won a prize for their speaking skills.

Year 6 pupils Ellie Jardine, Alex Rees and Calin Mellor won the regional final of the Primary Youth Speaks public speaking competition at Wilmslow Preparatory School for Girls.

The girls won their place in the Rotary International final after winning the Northwich heat.

Ellie acted as the chairman for the evening, while Calin proposed the votes of thanks.

Alex was the main speaker with her chosen subject of Futurology.

Though the opposition was very strong, their team work, animation and humour gave them the edge over the other competitors.

The trio had given up the first day of their Year 6 residential visit to Min-y-don to take part. Head teacher Yvonne Elliot, who coached the team with Fred Jones, said: “I am absolutely thrilled for the girls and so proud of them. They have worked hard to perfect their public speaking skills and have grown in confidence.”
