A cow had to be rescued by firefighters after falling into the centre of a revolving milk machine.

Photos issued by Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service show the animal stranded but apparently unharmed during the incident which happened at a farm in Aldford Road, near Chester, about 4.20pm on Saturday (March 5).

The service said: “A cow was marooned in the middle of a revolving milk mechanism machine, after falling from a milking unit at a farm in Chester. A vet who was in attendance sedated the cow and the farm owner disabled the milk machine. The electrics were isolated.”

Fire crews removed the cow from the machinery using lines and straps.

Called to the incident was a fire engine from Chester and the rope rescue unit, plus a supporting fire engine, from Knutsford.
