POETS across Cheshire are being asked to send in their poems about the places or the spirit of Cheshire and the best will be published in a new book out in March.

Cheshire Poet Laureate W Terry Fox wants to update a 70-year-old book titled Homage to Cheshire which contains the work of local poet Hedley Lucas.

His poems concentrated on a variety of subjects including Cheshire archers, brass bands, Cheshire cheese, chemical workers and Mrs Gaskell.

Poets can email their work for the new Homage to Cheshire for 2009 to homagetocheshire@tiscali.co.uk and the closing date is February 2.
