“STUDENT ghettos” could be created if planners restrict shared housing to certain streets, student representatives have warned.
Cllr David Mead (Lib Dem, College Ward) proposed development restrictions to limit the spread of house conversions at a council meeting on Wednesday last week.
Cllr Mead explained: “The city as a whole benefits from our university. But neighbours suffer from “studentification” - problems created by students in shared houses.
“These include noise, litter, parking congestion, unkempt gardens, general dereliction and an irregular level of business for local shops and pubs.”
