A WELSH Water employee from Frodsham has helped raise more than £1,200 for the charity WaterAid by climbing almost 2,500ft to the summit of Arenig Fach mountain near Bala.

Mary Alexander was part of a four-strong team of staff from Welsh Water and partner organisations who took part in the WaterAid Trail 100 challenge.

The event was a UK wide attempt for teams of walkers throughout Britain to climb 100 mountains in one day, including Snowdon and Ben Nevis, between midday and 2pm on Saturday, June 7.

Mary said: “It took us just over two hours to reach the summit but luckily the weather was good and we didn’t encounter any problems.”

It is not too late to sponsor Mary and her teammates. To donate money online, visit www.justgiving.com/trail100.
