YOUTH organisations from across Europe gathered in Chester to study the evolution of European cities.

Frank and Paula Marnell of The Watergate Inn hosted the young people who came from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, and the United Kingdom.

The event, which was part of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, happily coincided with Chester’s neighbour Liverpool being European Capital of Culture for 2008.

The project was held in Chester because it is an historic Roman city and compared and contrasted the cultures and traditions of large and small cities using Chester and Liverpool as examples.
