Christmas came early for three customers at Chester’s Forum Shopping Centre on Thursday, December 4, when they were presented with £600 worth of gift vouchers for successfully completing a competition about the centre.

Competition winner and former Chester school lunch assistant Pauline Borland, 68, of Blacon was presented with a first prize of £500 worth of shopping vouchers by Forum Centre manager Lawrence Allen.

Mrs Borland said: “I’m delighted with my prize and want to thank the Forum for making this an extra special Christmas. I’ve been a regular shopper at the Forum for years but never expected to win a competition like this.

“In fact it was a close-run thing for me because I only just managed to post my entry before the closing date. Now I’m so glad I did it.”

Runners-up were mum-of- three Lorna Brown and Susan Ibrahim, both of Chester, who each received £50 worth of shopping vouchers to be spent within the centre.

Mr Allen congratulated the winners and said: “This competition was our way of marking the arrival of a raft of new retailers to the Forum including names like Poundworld, B and M and walk-in beauty salon Beautonic. We wanted to give something back to our regular shoppers.

“After all, the Forum is the busiest it has been for a long time. Footfall figures are rising steadily thanks to the run-up to Christmas. However, we’re confident that the boost in activity will continue into the New Year and beyond with a wide range of retailers expressing interest in occupying vacant units in Chester’s favourite value-for-money destination.”
