A CHESTER high school musical this year is High School Musical.
Students at Christleton High School will tackle the Disney phenomenon in April following past success with Bugsy Malone, Guys and Dolls and last year’s Seussical the Musical
Students Josh Horrocks and Kim Yates have landed the lead roles of Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez, played by Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens in the 2006 hit television film.
Both are Year 12 students studying A levels, including drama and theatre studies, music and music technology between them.
Director Simon Phillips said: “The students have really surpassed themselves this year and we are proud to be putting on an excellent production of this difficult show. With more than 80 students involved on the stage and behind the scenes, there are plenty of hands making light work! “The show is suitable for all age groups and we guarantee an evening of great entertainment and a typically happy Disney ending!”
The show runs from Monday, April 4 until Saturday April 9 at 7.30pm (except Wednesday) with an additional matinee performance at 2.30pm on the Saturday. Tickets start at £5 and are available from the school on 01244 335843.
