TOWN crier David Mitchell lent his vocal support to a city centre church which is hosting 100 essential readings from the Bible.
David read from the book of Proverbs at The Cross, next to St Peter’s Church, which is promoting the readings to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the publication of the authorised Version of the Bible (King James).
The town crier is a committed Christian who worships at the Northgate Church in the city centre.
He said: “I feel that Chester, more than anywhere else, is like Heaven – because Heaven is a city with gates that never close, with walls all around it, a river running through it, and somebody crying out from scroll in a loud voice.”
David was thrilled to turn his proclaiming skills to evangelistic use. Meanwhile, the summer bible readings continue inside St Peter’s – Mondays to Saturdays at 12.30pm – until September 10.
