INDEPENDENT businesses in Chester have joined forces to combat the recession.
Fifteen businesses on Watergate Street are taking part in the Christmas Crawl – giving shoppers the chance to win £1,000 worth of prizes sponsored by themselves, The Chester Grosvenor Hotel and the Chester Race Company.
The Watergate Street Christmas Crawl – part of a national campaign – starts on December 1 and ends with a live draw of the winning entry at half time on Boxing Day at Chester Football Club.
All shoppers need to do to enter the campaign is to pick up an entry form from any of the businesses participating and visit all 15 outlets, who will stamp the entry form.
Forms are also available from the Railway Station Information Centre, and the Town Hall Visitor Information Centre.
The businesses taking part include: The Watergate Street Gallery, The Barista’s, Hair Café, Noa Noa, Coloured Earth, Corks Out, Sandra Harris, Harriet & Dee, Cartoon Gallery, Chateau de Sable, Eva, Bar Lounge, Fragrant Oasis, Toycraft and Saks.
Andy Delooze, of The Barista, and Alex Sharp, of The Watergate Street Gallery and Chairman of the Watergate Street Traders Association, are running the competition.
Andy Delooze said, ‘The Christmas Shopping Crawl is a great opportunity for Chester’s residents to explore and discover their local retailers and buy beautiful, unusual gifts that are not mass produced and cannot be found anywhere else.”
