WITH the 2010 racing season approaching, Chester Race Company is looking forward to offering punters a new and exciting in-house catering experience.
The company took control of the entire catering operation at the racecourse last December, after completing a three year agreement with Heathcotes Outside Catering.
Chief executive Richard Thomas said: “We enjoyed working with Heathcotes and believe they raised the level of our catering offer during their time in Chester.
“Our own belief is that the biggest change in the food and drink market place of recent times is in customer’s wanting to know the provenance of our offer.
“By taking control of our catering we can now source the best available local produce and move our food offer even higher.”
Phil Dougherty will control the operation and said: “We have found many local suppliers who are amongst the best in the country and of course this allows us to provide our customers with a unique Cheshire dining experience either at the racecourse or in our 1539 Restaurant.”
Chester Race Company will significantly reduce its carbon footprint by sourcing local produce and employment.
All of the original Heathcotes team has remained at Cheser Racecourse and have a expanding portfolio including running a hotel, restaurant and conference and banqueting suite.
There is a also a creative events division catering for top class polo and international showjumping as well as 13 race meetings at Chester and a further 17 fixtures at Bangor-on-Dee.
Mr Dougherty added: “Its a huge responsibility but we have one of the finest teams assembled to deliver our product. I would like to think at the end of 2010 our customers will believe we have all made a difference.”
