ONE of Chester’s oldest pubs is the star of a new television programme next week.

The Pied Bull in Northgate Street is featured on this week’s episode of Whines and Spirits, the new series from the team that produced Most Haunted.

Owners Carl Scourfield and John Wright said they were told the old coaching inn was among the top five most haunted pubs in the country.

So it came as no surprise when, of the three pubs featured on the programme, the team chose the Pied Bull to carry out an overnight vigil.

A film crew visited the pub in April where they spent the night filming in many of the 12 rooms, cellar and bar area.

The Paranormal Channel was launched on June 9 by Most Haunted star Yvette Fielding and her producer husband Karl Beattie, who spent over £1 million of their own money on the venture.

See what happened when Karl presents Whines and Spirits on the Paranormal Channel (Sky 212) on Thursday, July 10 at 9pm, repeated on Saturday at 10pm and again on Sunday at 9pm.
