POLICE in Chester are appealing for witnesses after a motorist hit a teenage cyclist in Vicars Cross and left the scene.

A 13-year-old boy was cycling along Melrose Avenue at about 4pm on a red and black BMX when a car collided with him and knocked him off his bike.

The boy received minor leg injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

The car involved was silver and driven by a woman. There was a small child in the front passenger seat.
