A CHESTER man is celebrating five decades of service at a Chester textile company.

Back in 1963 when James Beales started working as a driver and salesman for Chester Textile Services, which was then known as Chester Station Laundry, he had no idea that 50 years on, he’d still be going strong at the same company.

Fifteen years after he started, James became the company’s top salesman in charge of the shop and van rounds.

Over the years he worked his way through roles including supervisor and manager, until he reached his current position of Purchasing and Stores Manager.

James, who celebrated his milestone anniversary alongside his colleagues, said: “During my years with Chester Textile Services I have seen it grow from a local laundry supplying service to the national company we are today, and it is with some pride that I feel I have helped with the success over the last 50 years.”
