This year’s event has been made possible by funding from the MBNA Foundation, the charitable trust of Chester-based credit-card lender MBNA and the company has offered corporate boxes to 11 local charities to enjoy the event.
These include Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, BIRD and Hope House.
Chief Executive at MBNA Ian O’Doherty said: “This year we wanted to make sure that those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to watch the fireworks could not only attend the display, but have a special night. That’s why we’ve worked with our partners at the racecourse to provide boxes for all our adopted charities, which our employees in various departments raise money for every year. We hope everyone has a fantastic time.”
Over the years Chester Lions have raised more than £250,000 for local charities from this event.
President of Chester Lions Peter Upton said: “We’re really looking forward to the weekend and this year’s display is set to be bigger and better than ever. These fireworks have been at the centre of our community for over 40 years during the Guy Fawkes celebrations and we try to make it a great weekend for all of the family.”
The annual event will include a fun fair, live music from The Last Chance Band, face-painting and other entertainment for all the family.
Gates open at 5pm and the fun kicks off at 6:45pm with a special toddlers fireworks display, followed by the main adult fireworks display at 7.30pm.
Admission is £5 and children under seven go free.
