A VETERAN actor kept his promise to pupils at The King’s School.

Ronald Pickup, who officially opened the school’s Vanbrugh Theatre in June this year, returned to watch pupils in a performance of Samuel Beckett’s play Waiting For Godot.

Pickup, who played Lucky in the National Theatre production (alongside Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart and Simon Callow) told the young actors that he was deeply moved, describing the experience as something special.

The play was directed by sixth former Luke Howarth and the two lead roles were taken by Sean O’Doherty and Rupert Hands.
