Two Chester Football Club fans have been treated in hospital after being assaulted during a post-match incident in Lincoln.

Police believe 15 to 20 potentially local youths may have been involved in the disorder in Lincoln city centre following the game between Chester FC and Lincoln City at about 5.10pm on Saturday.

The Lincolnshire Police football intelligence and liaison team spotted the incident.

The two male Chester fans, aged 19 and 27-years-old, were treated at Lincoln County Hospital, although their injuries are not believed to be serious.

Debra Owen, a spokeswoman for Lincolnshire Police, said one fan is believed to have suffered a minor head injury and the other had a suspected broken nose and cuts to his face.

Youngsters in the large group involved in the trouble are understood to have run away from the scene. The police spokeswoman confirmed there had so far been no arrests. Enquiries are on-going.
