Firefighters were called to a number of incidents as Chester and Ellesmere Port welcomed in the New Year.

Crews attended The Birches in Neston after a car was torched.

One fire engine from Ellesmere Port attended the blaze at just before 3am on New Year's Day. Police also attended the incident, which is being investigated as arson.

And at around 11.40am firefighters cordoned off fallen power cables which had caught fire in Northwich. One fire engine attended the incident on Dutton Lane.

Firefighters removed hot embers from the hearth of a chimney following a fire in Bickerton.

At around 3.30pm crews from Malpas used hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze at an address in Bickerton Hall Road.

And firefighters extinguished a wheelie bin fire at Muir Road in Chester at just after 8.06pm.

Later in the evening crews were called to reports of a kitchen fire in Neston and a caravan on fire in Chester.
