SECURITY firm G4S may not be in the Government’s good books this week but one Chester teenager knows her Olympic experience as a patrol guard with the company will be something to tell the grandchildren about.

Caroline Oliver, 18, is travelling the country trained to deal with screening ticket holders, X-raying spectators’ bags and responding to an emergency.

Caroline, who has just finished A-levels in politics, media and English language at Christleton High School, applied for the job after spotting a poster on the school noticeboard.

The student has since undergone a training programme which she described as ‘quite crazy at first’.

She started work last Sunday, expecting to be based in Manchester for at least a week but by Monday was appointed to the emergency response team. On Tuesday she was heading for Coventry with her team and she hopes to be at the opening ceremony tomorrow evening.

“It will be a great experience,” she said. “And I will be able to tell my grandchildren that I was part of the London 2012 Olympics.”

Following her Olympic experience, Caroline, who lives in Chester, plans a gap year as an au pair in Italy before heading to university to study TV and film production.
