THE dream of becoming the next Dorothy is over for teen star Dani Rayner.

The 16-year-old college student, from Whitegate, was forced into a ‘sing-off’ scenario during Sunday’s results show of BBC One’s Over the Rainbow talent contest.

Having received the lowest number of votes from the public, Grange School student Dani and rival Danielle Hope were placed in the bottom two and had to sing again to try and persuade judges Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Charlotte Church, Sheila Hancock and John Partridge to keep them in the competition.

Unfortunately for Dani, the youngest competitor on the show, it was the end of the dream to become the next Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz as she was voted off.
