A POPULAR caravan park has been named the best in Britain just 18 months after it was opened by a pioneering Kingsley businessman.
Workers at Lady Heyes Caravan and Camping Park are celebrating after being presented with the ‘Best UK Campsite Award’ by Caravan Talk after campers voted in their thousands to recognise the holiday site.
The caravan park had been a lifelong dream of local entrepreneur Tony Faulkner before it opened in June last year, joining his success running the adjoining Lady Heyes Craft and Antique Centre, where visitors enjoy tucking into cheesecake, browsing stalls and leafing through mountains of books.
Speaking after being presented with the award at the Caravan Show at the NEC, Birmingham, site manager Alex Gibson, who is responsible for the day-to-day running of the site, said: “This is a wonderful accolade because it is based on the votes of the caravanners themselves.
“We are already a successful site, seeing many of our regular customers returning to Lady Heyes on a weekly basis. I believe that success is largely due to our commitment to giving our guests exactly what they want when they come to stay with us.”
Alex, who lives in the park to allow him to supervise the site more efficiently, said he monitored the views of customers using the Caravan Talk website and acted on their likes and dislikes.
He added: “We’ve created a value-for-money, clean and child-friendly site. We’ve also brought in services that our customers have specifically asked for, like the outside warm-water dog shower to enable them to ensure their pets are clean before they climb into the caravans.”
Tony dreamed of opening a caravan and camping site at a location which commands idyllic views of the Cheshire countryside, bordering the River Weaver.
He said he was delighted with the award: “It acknowledges the hard work invested in this site by Alex Gibson and his team who have embarked on a policy of constant improvement. By engaging with our customers, the Lady Heyes team are ensuring that we will always exceed expectations.
“As a result, Lady Heyes has remained busy since it opened for business in June last year, which is an accolade in itself.”
