Traffic is at a standstill on the A55 near Mold as firefighters tackle a car fire.

Emergency services were called at 9.02am with reports of a vehicle fully ablaze on the A55 eastbound between Junction 33B A494 Mold Road (Ewloe) and J34 A494 (Ewloe).

One of the two lanes was reopened at 9.40am to allow traffic past the scene.

There are tailbacks on the A55 to Junction 33 A5119 Northop Road.

It is believed that nobody has been injured.

A spokeswoman for North Wales Fire Service said: “We have two appliances in attendance at a vehicle fire on the A55 eastbound by the Shell garage next to the Mold turn-off.

“When we arrived there was one vehicle well alight, it is not believed that there are any injuries.“

We used two hose-reel jets and breathing apparatus. Traffic officers are now in attendance to control the traffic that is at a standstill.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.03am today, Friday June 27, to reports a car was on fire on the A55, near Mold. A crew in an emergency ambulance attended, but were not required.”
