A man has been cleared of robbery following an alleged car-jacking at knifepoint in Broughton back in September 2014.

Stephen Thomas Holland, of Copper Beech Close in Broughton, appeared from custody and was due to go on trial at Mold Crown Court on Friday (February 5).

The 35-year-old denied robbing a man at knifepoint of a Vauxhall Tigra at Lansdown Road in Broughton on September 13, 2014.

But the prosecution offered no evidence against him after the court was told that two prosecution witnesses had initially failed to attend.

They had been arrested but had indicated they would not give evidence.

Judge David Hale formally recorded a verdict of not guilty against Holland.

Another man has previously been dealt with following the incident.
