BIG-HEARTED bank staff pooled resources and raised an amazing £8,000 to help the families of children suffering from cancer.

The fantastic fundraising took place at the Bank of America, formerly MBNA, on Chester Business Park.

The efforts, by security and law staff at the bank, have boosted the funds of the CHiCs Children’s Cancer Support Group which is based in the North West.

The group, formed in 1986, provides support and information for parents of children with cancer.

It provides two caravans, located near Blackpool and in North Wales, which are available for respite use.

They were bought and are maintained and run through fundraising and sponsorship.

This is where the bank comes in.

Every year, members of the security department compete in an annual sponsored walk in a different European country.

This year’s walk, in Denmark, was the latest in a series which has seen them raise more than £20,000.

Since the fundraising walks began, treks have taken place in Belgium, Denmark, Holland, Italy and Switzerland as well as in England.

Meanwhile, the bank’s law department, not to be outdone, has been holding cake sales and other fundraising activities with their combined efforts leading to the presentation of this year’s cheque of £8,000 to the charity.

On hand to receive the donation from a smart group of staff from the two departments was a delighted Eddie Hinks from CHiCs.
