FURIOUS motorsport fans have vowed never to return to Oulton Park following a weekend of ‘hell’ at the race circuit campsite.

Organisers have come under fire from supporters who camped over for the British Superbike Championship event.

The Oulton Park Facebook page has been inundated with complaints from people venting their anger over the ‘inadequate’ facilities, lack of security and drunken behaviour.

To add insult to injury, 15 tents were targeted by thieves who stole cash, wallets and iPods.

Michelle Wise posted: “I am so disgusted at the camping facilities at Oulton Park. There has been so many robberies, someone tried to come into my tent twice while I was sleeping.

“The toilet and shower facilities are not adequate. I will not be staying here for the next round at Oulton Park.”

‘Disgusted’ Dawn Beeby added: “We booked a holiday with our son then got a holiday from hell. Loud music, drunken people shouting and swearing until all hours in the morning, open fires and that was just what we had to put up with by our caravan! We wont be coming again unless it gets sorted.”

Stan Egerton, who attended the race meeting with his son, said: “We left on Saturday morning, fed up. We are both season ticket holders and will seriously think about coming to future meetings.”

Steve Ransome added: “What an absolute let down. Thefts, inadequate facilities, poor access to infield, just a few of the injustices faced by the campers. If things don’t improve people will start boycotting these events.”

Oulton Park Facebook page is asking those who want to make an official comment on the camping facilities to call 0843 453 9000.

In relation to the thefts, a spokesperson for Oulton Park said: “The Oulton Park campsite, regrettably, suffered some thefts during the British Superbike weekend.

“Possessions were recovered and returned to their owners.

“The police had an increased presence over the weekend both inside and outside the venue and no further thefts were reported to us.”

Inspector Phil Hodgson, who heads up the Western Rural area, said: “I consider this to be a high risk crime event compared to other events in Cheshire. It does attract a travelling criminal element who target vulnerable vehicles, tents and pit lanes.”

Three men, aged in their 30s, from Manchester have been arrested are currently being questioned by police in connection with the thefts.
