A POPULAR American-themed restaurant and cocktail bar has been revealed as the second chain bidding to join Chester’s new dining district.

Coast to Coast has applied for a licence to stay open until 1.30am in the proposed glass-fronted development at the former Habitat building in Pepper Street.

The nationwide restaurant, owned by The Restaurant Group PLC, which also runs Chiquito, Brunning & Price and Frankie & Benny’s, is the second of the four units to be named.

Coast to Coast, a USA-themed eatery filled with American memorabilia, joins the Restaurant Bar and Grill in plans for the city centre development.

But mystery surrounds the future of the other two units as developer Bride Hall, owner of the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, refuses to reveal the names of the other two restaurants hoping to move in.

A spokesman for Coast to Coast said it was too early to comment on the opening of the new branch, but confirmed the restaurant had applied for licensing in the city.

Plans to transform the derelict Habitat building into ‘dining district’ filled with four high-profile restaurants and cafes, complete with alfresco dining, have divided the city since they were announced in June last year.
