IT MIGHT be hard to squeeze an elephant under your Christmas tree but Chester Zoo has the solution this festive season.
From the tiny Leafcutter ants to the large Asian elephants, Chester Zoo can wrap up a special something for animal lovers this Christmas.
The zoo’s animal adoptions – the funds from which go towards the daily animal food bill – are a perfect yet unusual gift.
Karolyn Toner, memberships and adoptions manager, said: “Animal adoptions are a worthwhile gift which can take the headache out of thinking what to get for that hard-to-buy-for friend or relative.
“We can’t promise to get a rhino in your Christmas stocking but the adoption is the next best thing and comes with tickets so the lucky recipient can come and visit their new ‘charge.’
“We have animals for everyone from Elephants to Emus, Bats to Bongos, Lemurs to Lions, and more besides.”
Adopters will receive two complimentary tickets to the zoo, an adoption certificate, the Zoo’s quarterly colour magazine, an invitation to the ‘Adopter Days’ and their name on a special ‘thank you’ plaque at the enclosure of their adopted species.
Picking up an adoption is now even easier with visitors able to call in at the new Membership and Adoptions cabin at the main entrance.
Karolyn added: “With our Festive Fun activities due to get underway from December 5, visitors can come along, enjoy a wonderful Christmas experience with their friends and family but also use the opportunity to pick up some last minute gifts such as an adoption.”
Festive Fun runs at Chester Zoo from December 5 to January 3 with visits to Santa, the Heart Christmas carousel and train ride and other activities.
