ALEXANDER’S in Chester has played host to a one-off acoustic gig of young talent.
Arranged by student Charlotte Anderton, the event attracted a 100-strong crowd.
First up was recently formed group The New Fool with Alex Marsden on vocals and lead guitar, Connor Gamble on bass guitar and Tim Cullen on drums. They opened their set with Newton Faulkner’s People Should Smile More followed by a crowd-pleasing New Shoes by Paolo Nutini and a rendition of the Radiohead classic High and Dry.
Next was solo artist Katie Magee on piano followed by Oliver Parkinson who ended with a new arrangement of Jason Mraz’s A Beautiful Mess.
Ben & Jay featured Jay Bradberry on vocals and fiddle and Ben Tynegate on guitar and Dear Diary had Chris Stirrup on Bass, Niru Fekri-Arnold on vocals and violinist Aamir Walwyn. They played a set of three original songs.
The final act was local trio The Vaults with lead singer and guitarist Liam Royden. The three performers, all aged 16, ended their session with an improvised blues jam called Alexander Blues in honour of the venue.
