Abbey Gate College’s new headteacher Tracy Pollard is now firmly ‘in post’, a couple of weeks after settling into her new role.

The events are now coming thick and fast at the college, with the annual prize-giving and speech day event at Chester Racecourse taking place this week, followed by the open morning at the senior school on Saturday, September 28, from 9.30am-12.30pm.

Mrs Pollard has taught in a number of schools and her most recent post was as deputy headmistress at Alderley Edge School for Girls.

In the college’s termly Broadsheet magazine, the pupils interviewed Mrs Pollard and her answer to the question “Do you have a set goal for your time here?” was: “I have been blown away by just everything that you as pupils and staff do and achieve here at Abbey Gate College and I think my biggest goal is to get more people to know about us and of your achievements.

“The college is ‘a jewel in the crown’ and I have been amazed and delighted by all that is and has been achieved here. My goal is simply to spread the word.”

Mrs Pollard is a big lover of sport and music group Take That and has taken much of her inspiration from her parents and decathlete Daley Thompson.

She is ready for the challenges of leading the college into its next phase and, when asked what she was most looking forward to at Abbey Gate College, replied: “Getting to know everyone, the staff and the pupils and making a difference.”

Anyone who would like to meet Mrs Pollard to discuss her vision for the college, can speak to her at the open morning on September 28, or alternatively make an appointment to meet her in person and view the facilities at the college.
