A tanker has shed a treacle-like substance onto a major road south of Chester presenting a ‘skid risk’ to motorists.
The lorry overturned on a side road next to the A41 at Tushingham near Malpa s, about 11am today (Wednesday, December 30), with molasses – described as a treacle -like substance – spilled onto the main road close to The Bluebell Inn.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible. Delays are likely.
The male driver was taken by ambulance to the Countess of Chester Hospital to be checked over but was not thought to be seriously injured.
One fire engine from Winsford, one from Malpas and the Environmental Protection Unit were deployed by Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service .
The fire service confirmed the spillage had been contained but was affecting the A41.
