TWO members of staff from a Cheshire marketing company are getting in the saddle to raise money for a cause that’s close to their hearts – by cycling 317 miles from London to Paris.
Keith Austin, of Chester, managing director of Event Marketing Solutions (EMS) in Ellesmere Port and financial controller, Juliette Maloney, have joined forces for the bike ride in June to raise £6,000 for the Imagine Appeal at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
Both have chosen the charity for personal reasons. Keith’s youngest son had life-saving surgery at Alder Hey soon after he was born, and Juliette is supporting a friend whose young daughter is being treated for leukaemia at the hospital.
They will set off from London on June 16 and arrive in Paris four days later – averaging a gruelling 79 miles a day.
“We are proud to support the Alder Hey appeal and give something back to this fantastic hospital that we are fortunate enough to have on our doorstep,” said Keith. “We hope that friends and colleagues will offer their generous support and make the trip well worthwhile.”
Keith and Juliette are already training hard at weekends with a mixture of fitness training and cycling. Both are determined to arrive at the finish line at the Eiffel Tower on June 19.
