One of Chester's most popular independent coffee shops is closing its doors today (Friday August 28).
Harvest Moon on Northgate Street has been the first port of call for many coffee lovers in the city ever since it opened three years ago, and would regularly receive five star ratings on Trip Advisor.
But yesterday staff shocked many by tweeting: 'We're sad to inform you that tomorrow will be our final day, heartfelt thanks to all of your support over the 3 years."
The Chronicle has so far been unsuccessful in attempts to contact the shop for comment but rising rent costs are believed to be the reason for the closure.
Dozens took to social media to voice their dismay at the news, with one person tweeting: "Absolutely devastated to hear that. You will be sorely missed." Another wrote: "Best coffee shop in Chester closes. Gutted. All the best to those involved, we loved it."
Harvest Moon was popular for its coffee, ale and homemade cakes, and was known for being a cultural hub that would often hold social events.
This morning, the shop tweeted: "I'd like to personally thank you all for everything. You as customers made this coffee shop."
