A BREEDER in Chester has appointed a leading agribusiness expert as a non-executive director.
Cogent Breeding, the UK’s largest bull stud owned by the Grosvenor Estate, has appointed Ian Hamilton to its board.
Ian’s career, which spans more than 25 years in the agricultural sector, started in the agrochemicals supply chain and has involved running both domestic and international operations for blue chip companies.
Ian spent 15 years working for Aviagen in various global executive roles, the last four years of which were spent as managing director of Aviagen Turkeys, based outside Chester.
Aviagen is the world’s leading poultry breeding company, developing pedigree lines for the production of broiler chickens and turkeys.
Since leaving Aviagen in December 2012 Ian has joined food safety specialist Anitox Ltd in a business development role.
Managing director of Cogent Mark Evington said: “Ian’s enormous expertise will contribute to the Cogent Board as we invest further into the development of new markets internationally and we look forward very much to working with him.”
