Two new Work Zones in Ellesmere Port and Northwich have been launched with the aim of helping people find employment.

Work Zones are designed to provide all the help you need to get a job in one place. Ellesmere Port’s is in Civic Way and in Northwich it can be found in the former Zone building.

These services represent a new level of collaboration between Jobcentre Plus, National Careers Service and Cheshire West and Chester Council, alongside partners such as Citizens Advice Bureau, local Housing Trusts, West and Mid Cheshire Colleges and key voluntary and community organisations.

The idea of bringing together these expert services under the same roof for the first time in West Cheshire is to offer a personalised service, providing all the support, learning and skills needed to move into sustained employment.

This approach is based on providing seamless services in one place that address all the requirements a job seeker may have.

The goal of these new Work Zones is not just to help people get a job, but to ensure that they have the skills and ability to sustain their employment.

Cllr Herbert Manley, Executive Member for Growth and Innovation, said: “This new initiative is just one of the direct benefits for the people of West Cheshire from the Altogether Better programme.

“This programme arose from the Whole Place Community Budget pilot that was awarded to the area by the Government, one of just four pilots awarded nationally.

“These two new centres are just the beginning of this programme, with a more joined-up set of services in Chester and Winsford due to be up and running later this year. There will also be a more joined-up offer for rural areas of the borough.”

The two new centres will link closely with existing local Jobcentre Plus premises and other organisations offering extra help to support local people to gain employment.

The Work Zones will bring together experts from these key public services to help people with barriers to work.

Examples of this new integrated help include debt and housing advice as well as new skills training and support to gain relevant qualifications and help with interviews and confidence building.
