A Chester recruitment agency has been shortlisted for an industry award.

Searchability was crowned Newcomer of the Year at last year’s Onrec awards ceremony in London and is hoping to repeat the success in the Innovative Use of Social Media in Recruitment category this time around.

Established just over 18 months ago, Searchability combines traditional methods with online and social media expertise to provide a range of services for both companies and jobseekers.

Managing director Martin Blythe said: “We’re delighted to have again been officially recognised by our industry and to have been shortlisted in such a fiercely competitive category.

“Winning the newcomer trophy last year was testament to the hard work put in by many people to create Searchability, but with our business model based around integrating the growing power of social media into our everyday work we are particularly pleased to have been nominated for this award.

“We’ve spent a lot of time and effort establishing ourselves across multiple social media channels, such as LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest, giving candidates every opportunity to find their next career challenge.

“We have a thriving digital side to the business which is helping companies recruit for themselves through advertising and social media campaigns, while we’re also offering CV and other online services to candidates.

“It seems everybody is active on social media these days, and so by being visible across as many platforms as possible and by giving jobseekers a variety of ways to improve their own online presence, we’re looking to cover every angle and help everybody achieve their own recruitment goals.

“It’s a source of great pride for us all that the judging panel at Onrec have recognised our efforts so far.

“We’re also proud to be representing Chester at these awards.

“This is a great city full of talented and ambitious people and we’re delighted to have worked alongside dozens of graduates from our university to help them find employment in these challenging economic times.

“We know the competition is extremely tough, but we’d love to bring another award home from London.”

The Onrec awards will take place at the St Paul’s Grange Hotel in London on March 20.
