THE Trinity Mirror Cheshire Business Awards sponsored by SAS Daniels and Click Consult are entering their ninth year.
Businesses from across the region can nominate themselves, or another business they know well, for an award.
There are 10 categories to choose from and the awards are open to all businesses whatever the size of trade. A full list of categories and criteria is in the panel on this page.
This week we highlight the SAS Daniels Medium Business of the Year and The Mersey Forest Green Award.
SAS DANIELS MEDIUM BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
The medium business award is for companies employing between 11 and 50 staff that can demonstrate business excellence. The judges will be looking for specific business achievements, sound business strategy, a good financial performance and your potential for the future.
SAS Daniels said: “The announcement this week that unemployment fell by 51,000 in the three months to April has been hailed by the British Chamber of Commerce as encouraging news at a crucial time for the UK economy.
“We may not be out of the deep water yet, but there are certainly some positive signs emerging. Owner-managed small and medium sized businesses have long been hailed as the backbone of the British economy – something which stands true, particularly in difficult economic circumstances.
“Contrary to previous convictions, it certainly looks like the private sector is making the effort to fill a good proportion of the void left by the steadily shrinking public sector employment market.
“As a firm focused on growth, SAS Daniels is well placed to work alongside these ambitious and hard working businesses and individuals which spread right across the region.
“We’re very proud to sponsor this year’s Medium Business of the Year Award to recognise those companies whose ambition and perseverance is spearheading growth in the Cheshire economy. THE MERSEY FOREST GREEN AWARD
This award celebrates excellence in green practice, strategy and product and is for businesses that have applied environmental policies in the workplace, have products or services that make a positive contribution to the environment or maybe reduced their carbon footprint through efficiency management. This category recognises local businesses that show evidence of a green ethos which has a commercial return for the business.
The Mersey Forest said: “The Mersey Forest is pleased to sponsor the Green Award at the Cheshire Business Awards.
“Creating a sustainable and thriving economy is at the heart of what The Mersey Forest is all about. Working with partners including businesses, community groups, local authorities and residents we create a more attractive place to live, work and invest.
“65% of residents say that their local environment has improved over the past decade thanks to the nine million trees planted so far, and more than 90% of people support having a community forest in their area.
“By transforming derelict land into safe places for leisure and recreation, and creating an attractive backdrop for visitors and new investment, we are doing our bit to help make Cheshire one of the best business locations in the UK.
