A store in Chester is coming to the rescue of women heading to the races today with the launch of a shoe testing grass paddock.

Anyone attending the Grosvenor Shopping Centre Ladies evening on Friday, June 27 will be able to ‘grass test’ their potential new footwear purchases ahead of the event.

The races are the highlight of  the summer calendar, however it  can mean a few tricky outfit decisions, one of the biggest being what shoes to wear.

Store manager for Debenhams Chester Kari Rodgers says : “The  races can cause some big shoe dilemmas for high heel loving women for when they venture out from the stands and onto the concourse. There’s nothing worse than getting stuck in the mud or taking a tumble because the shoes you’re wearing aren’t grass friendly.

“We know a lot of ladies would rather not be parted from their heels, so hopefully our grass paddocks will mean customers can find a pair of heels that they love, which are also suitable for the  grass.”

Grosvenor Shopping Centre manager Julie Webb said: “We've all had that dreaded ‘sinking’ moment at the races so it will be great to see which heels pass the test, and if all else fails we're giving away free flip flops at our Grosvenor Shopping Centre Ladies Evening.

“There are some stunning styles at the moment that are perfect for the races so we look forward to seeing them, and picking the ‘best dressed’ at Ladies Evening.”
