You can almost hear the deep Hollywood-style voiceover saying “Don’t miss the super cinema experience coming to a screen near you soon”.

But for people in Ellesmere Port it’s true.

Vue Entertainment, the worldwide operator and developer of modern, multiplex cinemas, is bringing a brand new state-of-the-art IMAX cinema to Vue on the Coliseum Leisure Park.

Situated next to the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet, Vue says the cinema complex is one of its largest sites.

The installation of the new IMAX cinema featuring a 57ft wide by 33ft high screen will provide residents with the most innovative and technologically advanced equipment available in cinemas today.

The first to be introduced by Vue in the country, the new theatre will open its doors to local dignitaries and VIPs on Wednesday, July 29.

Upcoming IMAX films showing there over the next few months are due to include The Man from U.N.C.L.E, Pixels, Everest, The Walk, Crimson Peak and the new James Bond film Spectre.

Vue says every IMAX auditorium is custom-designed to bring the audience closer to the action, regardless of where they are sitting.

IMAX’s advanced projection system delivers ‘mind blowing, crystal-clear images’ and the supersized floor-to-floor, wall-to-wall curved screen maximises the field of view to create a more immersive viewing experience.

IMAX’s digital re-mastering process bolsters this even further by enhancing the image of the movie and creating ‘earth shattering sound’.

Better soundproofing, more effective speaker placement as well as engineering the room’s shape and seating layout around the screen all contribute to the experience.

Tony Bywood, general manager at Vue, said: “We are incredibly excited about the launch of the new IMAX cinema and look forward to welcoming film and entertainment fans from Cheshire and beyond through the doors when it opens.

“Being fully digital means that Vue Cheshire Oaks offers a greater choice of films and event cinema including live music concerts, sporting events, comedy, opera, ballet and theatre productions as well all the latest 3D releases.”

Andrew Cripps, president of IMAX in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, added: “We are delighted to partner with Vue to bring IMAX’s unique and unparalleled cinematic experience to film fans in Cheshire.”

The new 225-seater IMAX cinema will offer three levels of seating, standard, VIP and new to Vue luxury seats, a fully reclining, wider seat.

Tickets to the new IMAX cinema range from £14.99 to £19.99.
